What does the HTML file (/opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/php5/php-5.3.6.tar.bz2) contain?

I'm going to assume you hit the fr.php.net mirror, which appears to be misconfigured and does not deliver distfiles. All the other mirrors we're using appear to be ok. I've changed MacPorts to use fr2.php.net instead in r77062. Please clean and try again:

sudo port clean --all php5-mbstring
