Can't build ncurses

When I tried installing nmap I got the following:

sudo port install nmap
--->  Computing dependencies for nmap
--->  Dependencies to be installed: pcre readline ncurses
--->  Building ncurses
Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command failed (see log for details)
Error: Failed to install ncurses
Log for ncurses is at: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_devel_ncurses/main.log
Error: The following dependencies were not installed: pcre readline ncurses
Error: Status 1 encountered during processing.
