Why do you refuse to let the user choose which Python version he should use?

The tortoisehg port should have variants based on python versions such as python26 and python27.

The tortoisehg port's python presumably needs to be the same as the mercurial port's python.
mercurial's python was just changed to 2.7. So tortoisehg's python needs to be changed to 2.7 also. That's #29498.
Note: See
TracTickets for help on using
tickets.
TortoiseHg is a program that happens to use Python. It is not a Python module. As such it is not appropriate to have a port named "py27-tortoisehg". The correct name is "tortoisehg" and that port already exists. As discussed in #29498, tortoisehg will switch to use python27 when mercurial does.
