Description
Installing KDE on MacPorts does not install the "system settings" app. This means that changes to font rendering and other KDE wide settings are unavailable.

What's news about KDE-Workspace port to macport ?
What's the problem with this package to compile under OSX ?
KDE applications look weird with macport. There is problem to render widget contents with default font provided by OSX. Sound like font sizes are not handle properly.

For what I saw when I tried some time ago, this package relies heavily on X11 libraries, which is antagonist to what is done for other KDE ports in Macports (Qt based on Aqua). Furthermore, contrarily to other packages which enable OSX support with conditional code, this one does not at all.

As KDE developer (i'm digiKam project coordinator), i can take a look to kde workspace components to compile fine with macport.
Not all sub-components are relevant of X11 in kde workspace. Some item can be compiled as well, some other no. At least i can propose a patch to KDE core team to compile the minimum of this component under OSX. It's not the final solution but it's a first step.

Patch done against KDE-workspace from git/master and all relevant components compile fine.
Patch request to KDE developers is posted to KDE reviewboard :

This ticket has been superseded by #44236, which resulted in the submission of a kde-workspace port.
Looks like this would be the kde-workspace package.
