- Probably the word "perl" should appear in the description or long_description to help people find this port.
- Instead of using ${workpath}/${name} everywhere you should set worksrcdir ${name} and then use ${worksrcpath} everywhere.
- "categories textproc sysutils" doesn't seem right... cpan2port doesn't really process text... It might be a system utility though I guess, not really sure what a great category for it would be.

Yeah larryv taught me that one in irc for the mpvim portfile... hadn't gotten around to changing it in the rest of my submissions yet though, but I have now.

So I just discovered that there is a macports category (edit: that led to #37832 btw)... it's only used as a secondary category for stuff though. Anyway changed to "sysutils macports"

So, from the Trac timeline, I see that macsforever2000@… has been using cpan2port
a lot lately... I'd recommend cc-ing him on this ticket, and, if he wants, adding him as a maintainer to this port, too.

In general, please do not Cc Macports developers unless they are already a port maintainer. I do not know enough perl to maintain cpan2port.

This would just be the portfile for it, you wouldn't have to know any more perl for that than you would for any of the portfiles you've been generating recently with it. Heck I don't even know any perl myself and I was still able to throw together this portfile.

I committed r123851 with minor changes. Please let me know if you have any other comments/suggestions. We should start working on improving the scripts itself (#44654) as well as update the howto/cpan2port.
