Description (last modified by larryv (Lawrence Velázquez))
Trying to install wget via macports on a 10.9.5 system and get following error:
sudo port install wget ---> Computing dependencies for wget Error: Dependency 'gmp' not found. To report a bug, follow the instructions in the guide: http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets Error: Processing of port wget failed
Installed libiconv-1.14 thinking it needed that, but did not help. Same error.
any way to get wget installed? User needs this now. (of course)
thanks,
Lisa Madden

The real problem is that your gmp
port is not indexed for some reason. Could you try running these commands?
$ sudo rm $(port dir wget)/../../PortIndex* $ sudo port selfupdate $ port info gmp

Larry,
We use svn not rsync, so tried: sudo port -d sync and it added lots of ports. Tried the port info gmp and said port not found. Tried to install wget again, and got same error as before about the dependency.
So, tried sudo port -d sync again, and get the below:
dports sysagent$ sudo port -d sync ---> Updating the ports tree Synchronizing local ports tree from file:///opt/local/var/macports/sources/svn.macports.org/trunk/dports/ DEBUG: /usr/bin/svn update --non-interactive /opt/local/var/macports/sources/svn.macports.org/trunk/dports DEBUG: changing euid/egid - current euid: 0 - current egid: 0 Updating '.': At revision 128249. Ran this a couple times, same results. Evidently gmp is in one of these 106 failed ports is my guess, and not sure now how to get it installed!!
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Lisa Madden

Your version of MacPorts is outdated. You need to upgrade MacPorts itself, possibly using the installer from the website.

Sorry about that. Looked fine on the email I got.
That was it though, thanks!!! I'd installed the macports for Mavericks, but it WAS an earlier version that what was on the website. Did not realize there would be a more current version for Mavericks. Now I know! I was able to sync all the ports and install wget, and command line tools for XCode, so am hoping all is right with the world again. Waiting on user to show up and test.
Thanks again for all your help and patience.

Yup. Note that since you don’t use port selfupdate
, you need to check for base updates yourself. You were running a version of base that predated the configure.cxx_stdlib
Portfile option.
The Priority field is for use by Macports team members only.
