"mc +ncurses" terminate when shortcut ctrl-\ (directory hotlist) is used

Recent build of mc @4.8.18_1+ncurses abruptly quit if "Directory Hotlist" command is invoked via keyboard shortcut: ctrl-\. Invoking the same command via menu works fine.

Note that the same shortcut is also working fine with default mc build (port install mc).

I can reproduce this!

mc prints out

Quit: 3

on the console when terminating.

Looks like upstream is already fixed this issue: ​https://midnight-commander.org/ticket/3697 - @mkae will it be possible to update port definition so it uses 4.8.19+?

I would want to wait until 4.8.19 is released, if you don't mind... (Well, I see that it is not clear when this is going to happen due to quite a few ​open issues for that milestone!)

OK, I've tried building mc with just ​this one patch, but it still quits.

So, there's more to it and I don't have the time to investigate any further now.

If you can come up with a set of patches (originating from above mc ticket) which do the job for you, please attach them to this ticket and I'll give it another go.

If patching this is too complicated then waiting for 4.8.19 sounds like the right approach, in meanwhile i will just use slang build. Thank you for looking this up!
