#70300 assigned defect

Macports Says kid3 3.9.5 Works on Mojave, but it seg faults

Reported by: GittyGharial Owned by: judaew (Vadym-Valdis Yudaiev)

Port: kid3

Description

I installed kid3 3.9.5 on Mojave and Monterey via MacPorts, then ran kid3-cli from the terminal.

On Mojave, I get this error:

Segmentation fault: 11

On Monterey, it opens the command line application kid3>

Followup: I am pretty sure it actually needs Catalina or higher. This should be corrected in MacPorts so it doesn't show as available for Mojave and earlier. In addition it would be nice if an earlier version of kid3-cli is available to install

Please attach the crash log which macOS should have recorded in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

Replying to ryandesign:

The reporter is correct, the prebuilt binary that this port installs appears to be compatible with Catalina and later, so the port should set platforms accordingly if it continues to install that binary.

Load command 10
      cmd LC_BUILD_VERSION
  cmdsize 32
 platform 1
    minos 10.15
      sdk 11.1
   ntools 1
     tool 3
  version 609.0

Ok, I searched my /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and found a .coreanalytics file modified today. Within that, here is the only line that mentions kid3:

{"message":{"activations":1,"activeTime":7,"activityPeriods":1,"appDescription":"org.kde.kid3 ||| 3.9.5 (???)","foreground":"YES","idleTimeouts":0,"launches":1,"powerTime":7,"processName":"kid3","uptime":8},"name":"com.apple.osanalytics.appUsage","uuid":REDACTED}

Is that information sufficient? I don't see much of use in it but that was the only file which was modified today, and that the only line that mentioned kid3. I had no lines mentioning MacPorts.
