Is SIMH supposed to do anything? Also there is now a later version V3.12-4

What command are you running exactly? You can see the installed files with port contents simh.

I was looking at it the wrong way, indeed 'port contents simh' shows there is actually an entry for each emulator, simh will do nothing. I later found this when compiling the v4 simh code myself it spits out individual commands for each emulator. Thanks for that!
