If you were planning on trying to make this work yourself and you succeed, I would appreciate it if you would attach a patch once you have it working (or if anyone else works on it, a patch would be welcome).

Otherwise I'll try and take a look (it probably won't be for a while).

Patch to add dlz-mysql

comment:5 Changed 16 years ago by pixilla (Bradley Giesbrecht)

No sure if +mysql is a good name for the variant but +dlz-mysql doesn't work because of the hyphen.

The "RANLIB=ranlib -c" doesn't work but I left it there so you could see what I was trying to set. Setting this env var correctly should do away with the ranlib compile error/warning. Builds with error/warning so it's not eveidently a big deal.

Your patch makes a lot of whitespace changes to the portfile that aren't relevant to the request in this ticket... could you attach a patch that makes only the changes needed to implement the dlz/mysql functionality?

You're right that the hyphen is not allowed in variant names, but the underscore is, so you could use +dlz_mysql if you want.
