My comment was about the base, since the issues seemed to relate to 'universal' and how architecture choices relate to the toolset on SL. Anyhow, I'm here to report that the problem in #17357 is now resolved when building with trunk svn macports.

Here is another issue in ImageMagick: #20017
I haven't tracked down the exact cause, but sed is behaving strangely there and it doesn't appear to be a problem in the port itself.

Pretty sure that's unrelated... and again, this ticket is for changes to BASE.

At this point, the only remaining change I'd like to make is a "default_arch" setting that allows users to (attempt to) force MacPorts to use a specific architecture. This will benefit SnowLeopard users who want to build i386 (more likely to work). It will also benefit Leopard users, many of whom would like to build 64-bit binaries without tricking our flaky universal support into doing it.

Doesn't seem to be anything left to do here.
